At the center of EVERYTHING! We are located at the southwest corner of Arkansas in Little River County. We are within a couple of hours of Dallas, TX, Shreveport, LA, and Little Rock, AR. If you want to see it all, this is a great home base to start from.

Ashdown has a lot to offer! We have a wonderful city park with playgrounds and a splash pad for the kiddos. There is local shopping and restaurants. We have museums and a quaint library. We are also a short distance from Millwood State Park and White Cliffs. If you’re in town during football season, come see the high school Panther team toss the ol’ pig skin.

It depends on who you ask! Some say that Ashdown is named after the national Ashdown Forest in England. It is the wonderous forest that inspired Winnie-the-Pooh and the 100 Acre Woods. Others say there was a large fire early in our history and the town was burnt down to ashes. It’s really anyone’s guess!
Ashdown arose as a result of the construction of the Kansas City Railroad and was incorporated in 1892.
Ashdown became the county seat in 1906 and constructed the present courthouse a year later. The Little River County Courthouse, Neo-Georgian in design and topped by a dome, is a platform for a gorgeous display. The building is now on the National Register of Historic Places.
